Following his "Vietnam trilogy", Oliver Stone turned
his attention to dissecting the media and its sensibilities, especially concerning the glorification of the violence serial killers leave in their wake.
The plot concerns Mickey and Mallory Knox, a married
couple who go on a killing spree, not dissimilar to the Starkweather homicides of the 1960's, and the media circus which follows them after their subsequent arrests and
incarceration.
The deliberate in-jokey style of the film might
detract from the Quentin Tarantino-penned story, but it will remain one of them films which scar rather than entertain. Even if it's not enjoyed, it will be impossible to
forget.
