Winner of 1989's Best Picture Oscar and adapted from a
Pulitzer Prize winning stage play, Driving Miss Daisy is a quaint, old-fashioned story about the friendship which develops between an elderly Jewish widow and her black chauffeur in the
Deep South in the 1960's.
All the performances are fantastic, particularly
Jessica Tandy as the eponymous character and Morgan Freeman as her chauffeur and lifelong friend. Overall, the film is enjoyable without being particularly memorable. Being named best
film of the year by the Academy Awards was an incredibly flattering accolade.
