Biopic of Loretta Lynn, adapted from her own autobiography, detailing her life from her days as the wife of a backwoods Kentucky hillbilly to her stardom as a Country & Western singer.
Spacek does an excellent job portraying the famous singer, justifyably winning a Best Actress Oscar for her performance and lifting it well above the standard of a TV movie which this film may have become without her involvement.
