With the critical and financial success of Paddington movies and the dramatic biopics Goodbye Christopher Robin proving itself at the box office, it was almost inevitable that Disney would cash in with a live action version of their honey-loving bear. Unfortunately, this is night and day from the aforementioned films.

Ewan McGregor plays the title character, now an adult man going through a midlife crisis of sorts with barely any memories of his fantasy adventures with his childhood stuffed animal friends in the Hundred Acre Wood, including Winnie The Pooh, who sets out into Christopher's world to help him find his way again.

It's a really difficult film to put your finger on, since the story has too many adult themes to make it enjoyable for children, lacking the fantasy magic element to transport you to the world it aims to present. Whereas for most adults, it's just too damn boring. The visual effects are quite well done, but that's where the praise ends.

Think of 2012's Ted, but take away the inappropriate humour, drug references and fun, and you'll have the gist of this movie. Unfortunately, for a film about a sentient teddy bear, it just doesn't have much life elsewhere.
